How to track your USCIS case on ImmSight

By ImmSight·Reviewed October 16, 2026

General information to help you understand the process — not legal advice. USCIS rules and wording change; your official notices and an immigration attorney are the authority for your own case.

ImmSight keeps all of your USCIS cases in one place: the current status, everything that has happened so far, and a heads-up when something changes. It is free. This guide walks through setting it up.

1. Create a free account

Go to Sign in and choose one of two ways in:

  • Email. Enter your address and we send you a one-time sign-in link. There is no password to create or remember.
  • Google. Sign in with your Google account.

The first time you sign in you will be asked to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and to pick a display name. Your display name is what other members see in the community, so it does not have to be your real name.

2. Add your case

From your dashboard, choose Add case. It takes two steps.

Step 1: your receipt number. Enter the 13-character receipt number from the notice USCIS sent you: three letters followed by ten numbers. We look the case up with USCIS to confirm it exists.

Step 2: confirm the details. Check the form type, receipt date and service center we found, and fill in anything that applies to your case, such as your category and nationality, or a priority date for green card cases. You can also give the case a nickname (for example "My work permit") and keep private notes.

Have more than one case, or are you tracking a family member's case? Add each one the same way.

3. Follow your case

Your dashboard shows every case you track, with its current status and its history. You don't need to refresh anything: ImmSight checks USCIS for updates automatically.

If a status message is hard to read, our guide on what your USCIS case status means explains the common ones.

4. Choose your notifications

In Settings → Notifications you decide what you hear about, and whether it arrives in the app, by email, or both:

  • Case status updates, when USCIS changes the status of a case you track
  • Visa Bulletin, when a new bulletin is released
  • USCIS news, as it is published on uscis.gov
  • Replies, when someone answers your post or comment in the community
  • A weekly digest of your case activity

Security alerts and required notices about our Terms and Privacy Policy are always sent.

Your receipt number stays private

Your receipt number is only used to look up your own case. It is never shown in the community or to other members. When you post, share your form type and dates instead, and never your receipt number, A-number or other personal details.

Removing your data

You can stop tracking a case at any time, and you can delete your whole account from Settings. After you request deletion you have 14 days to change your mind, using the restoration link we email you; after that, your account and data are permanently removed.

Good to know

  • ImmSight is an independent site and is not affiliated with USCIS or any government agency. Your official USCIS notices always take precedence over any status shown online.
  • Nothing on ImmSight is legal advice. For your specific situation, talk to a licensed immigration attorney or a DOJ-accredited representative.
