Protect yourself from immigration scams
by ImmSight TeamOfficial·2d ago
Scammers target people waiting on immigration cases. A few things that are always true:
USCIS will never ask you to pay by gift card, wire transfer to a person, cryptocurrency or payment app. Official USCIS fees are paid through official channels only.
Official U.S. government websites end in .gov.
Nobody can guarantee a green card, a faster approval, or a winning lottery entry. The Diversity Visa lottery is free to enter.
A "notario público" is not a lawyer in the United States and cannot give legal advice.
For real help, use a licensed immigration attorney or a DOJ-accredited representative at a recognized organization. USCIS has more on avoiding scams at uscis.gov/avoidscams.
